career aptitude test

Not that this is necessarily relevant to this particular tribe, I just wanted to share this with someone because I found it really humorous -- thought you guys might appreciate this too ... I just got finished taking a career aptitude test from LiveCareer.com ... Although the website is obviously recent, I can only imagine that the test itself is horribly, horribly old... 100 questions, not a single question about using computers -- there was however a question about using an "adding machine"... you know, the things people used *before* calculators :) Plus a number of questions about other things people haven't done in decades. ... so a tthe end of the test, it gives me this thank you blurb:

Congratulations Isaac,

You've taken an important step toward finding a career that’s right for you. This free report is based on your answers to LiveCareer's Career Directions Inventory (CDI). The CDI measures career interests and is one of the most advanced, scientifically-based tests of its kind.

Nice to know what the state of the art was in 1950. :P Maybe I should get a job creating a new aptitude test, since theirs is so outdated.

      heh... nothing I didn't already know... cartoonist, illustrator, writer... all things I'm already doing and not making much headway with as of yet... so basically "gas station attendant". :P At least for now... Check out my tribe photos, buy a t-shirt. :) Or read my ebook.

  • How uncanny
    somehow i started that test about a year ago;
    found the link somewhere unknown again, yesterday
    - cracked my password today, to see I'm pending on question 23

    then my skeptic made me google for +/- opinions
    leading right here, to the fine folks of Tribe.

    still unsure if completing the test will provide any insights
    but traveled ten roads in Tribe on my way to saying
    Hello and Thanks for your shrewd observation
    -- the test and its 'complex algorithm' might be free
    because they are becoming obso- lete
